Summer is a great time to relax by the pool, catch up on those video games you didn't have time for all year long, and... continue making music!! :) You know that if you don't play at all over the summer, you will be significantly less awesome when you return to orchestra in the fall. Practicing doesn't have to be boring, though - consider going to a music camp or starting private lessons this summer! Check out the links below for some great ideas.

This is an awesome experience right here in our backyard! Two weeks of morning-only sessions are held at Ohio State, in the marching band rehearsal facilities connected to the Horseshoe. Students have technique classes, chamber music time, and orchestra rehearsal each day, and prepare a concert for the end of the session. There is a limit of 75 students, so if you are interested, register ASAP - this camp often sells out! (Ms. Liddle enjoyed this camp so much she attended FIVE times as a student, and returned as a staff member for several years!) :)

Students entering grades 5-8 next school year (with at least one year playing experience) may enjoy the less-competitive "Camp Bernstein" junior camp. Make music with students from all over America in large-group orchestra and small-group ensembles each day. Enjoy the beauty of a traditional "outdoor camp" experience! |
